Cumbria get through to Twickenham!
Cumbria 13 Warwickshire 11 (Half time : 10 - 6)
After heavy rainfall overnight, which necessitated mopping up operations on the pitch by some helpful local farmers, the game was tough and close.
Dan Richards gave Warwick an early lead with a penalty, then Neil Warnock (Penrith) was the first to touch down for Cumbria with some good handling by the backs: 5 - 3
Just before half time, Reece Tomlinson (Kendal) dived over from close range after a drivng maul from a line out.
Richards narrowed the gap with his second penalty.
In the second half, Warwick took the lead when Nick Thatcher scored a try, but Richards missed the conversion.
But in the last few minutes, Ally Ledingham (Wigton) kicked a fine penalty from 40 metres to regain the lead for Cumbria, and this was the final score of a tense nail-biting match.
As a result of this magnificent result, Cumbria will now play against Surrey in the County Shield final, at Twickenham, on Sunday 26th May, 2013 at 5.15 pm.
