HUDDERSFIELD'S keenness to escape the drop zone in National League 2 North showed as they imposed themselves with a six-try 45-23 defeat of Kendal on Saturday.

The Lakes visitors had gone ahead with a Mike Scott drop goal and penalty, but Huddersfield forged back with tries from Davies and Whitehead.

A second drop goal for Kendal was cancelled out by Johnson's penalty but only down 17-9 at half time, the visitors were not out of it.

Huddersfield grabbed the game by the throat in the second half, however, with an early try for full back Owen and three more scores followed in the space of seven minutes from Sharpe, Sutcliffe and Paxman.

At 45-9, Kendal had only pride to play for but they ended on a positive note with tries from Scott and Postlethwaite in injury time.
