BRADFORD & BINGLEY 0 – KENDAL 68 Kendal produced an emphatic display of fast flowing running rugby against Bradford & Bingley at Wagon Lane, in their final away game of the season, scoring eleven tries in the process.

Kendal showed great ball retention skills throughout the game but especially during the opening twenty minutes, in which time Bradford touched the ball only once and even then Kendal soon forced a turnover.

From the kick-off Kendal took the attack to Bradford with flanker Mark Wilson heavily involved in play, which he continued to do throughout the game to produce probably his best performance in a Kendal jersey to date.

Fullback Zane Butler and left wing Lewis Boyd were immediately in full stride, making full use of the firm wide pitch. After four minutes Kendal forced a penalty and from the penalty kick to touch the Kendal forwards drove for the try line with Richard Harryman to the fore, he was denied but less than a minute later No.8 Craig Wilson had forced his way over. Rob Aloe missed the conversion but kicked a penalty two minutes later.

From the restart Kendal were straight back on the attack and gave every intention of how they were going to play the game.

Centres Voortman and Ashley burst through mid field with second rows Gore and Hayton galloping up in support for Hayton to take the final pass and skip round the defence to score a try converted by Aloe.

Keeping the ball alive was the order of the day and four minutes later a superb final pass from right wing Matt Gracie put left wing Lewis Boyd clear for him to score his first try of the afternoon.

Scrumhalf James Gough’s excellent vision was rewarded when he collected his own chip into the Bradford twenty-two and race on to score beside the posts in the twenty-third minute.Zane Butler’s galloping run up field, two minutes before halftime, led to Kendal’s fifth try of the half when centre Brett Ashley touched down after a series of wonderful passes.

Aloe successfully converted the final two tries of the half to make the score 34 – nil at the break.Kendal picked up the second half where they had left the first. A couple of superb passes sucked in the defence to allow prop Richard Harryman to claim a poacher’s try out on the left wing. Aloe converted from the difficult angle. Two tries in three minutes, selflessly provided by Butler, gave Lewis Boyd his hat-trick and take him to within two tries of the League’s leading try scorer Gareth Collins with one game left for Boyd to play.

Kendal to be fair to Bradford had a brief period of defending to do shortly afterwards on their own line and showing resolve and tenacity ensured Bradford did not score.Kendal with sixty minutes gone were simply, and deservedly so, enjoying the free flowing rugby they were playing and their Caribbean style produced three more tries before the end.

Standoff Rob Aloe was creating space with his gliding breaks and firstly Mark Wilson was on hand to score Kendal’s ninth try and Gareth Gore with his Gazelle like stride benefited from an excellent off load to score the tenth. With fulltime looming flanker Garry Holmes touched down beside the posts for Kendal’s eleventh and final try which Aloe converted for a final score of 68 – 0.

Kendal can now look forward to their final game of the season against Huddersfield at Mint Bridge on Saturday.
